Had a great first time experience here this afternoon. Really cool atmosphere inside; this is the perfect spot for a friends gathering or casual date. The music playlist was awesome! Drink menu had a great selection to choose from. My husband and I both had margarita-like cocktails and shared chips and guacamole and wings to start, all fantastic. We then shared a spread of different tacos. All were delicious except the fried avocado one—strange flavor profile there with the toppings. Dessert was also scrumptious with an exceptionally good espresso martini, generous chocolate cake and tres leches slice.
Our server Morgan was amazing. She was so much fun, down to earth, and very attentive.
With that being said, part of the reason I’ve deducted a star is because I’ve truly never seen an overall waitstaff look so unkempt and sloppy. The hostess and most of the servers were teenagers who literally looked like they just rolled out of bed—messy hair, dirty sneakers, ill fitting yoga pants and sweats, oversized hoodies. Casual comfort is fine, especially working on your feet all day, but truth be told their appearance crossed the line into what I would describe as slovenly. As we walked out, my husband whispered to me “Is that hostess really wearing slippers??” (Yes, she was)
The other factor for the star deduction is yet another restaurant falling victim to the trend of supplying guests with industrial style seating. I understand going for a certain look but sheet metal benches are incredibly uncomfortable. More comfortable seating and a more professional and presentable looking waitstaff would’ve elevated my experience to a full 5 stars.
Update listed below. Ordered to go. Brisket fries, a side of mac and cheese, churros, and tres leche cake. At first we tried to order the spicy carnita mac and cheese and banana pudding that we saw on the on line menu but we got a call back they were confused by the order and ask what menu we were ordering from and we said the one online. The man informed us that it was an old menu from 2020 and that they didn't have banana pudding or the spicy carnitas mac and cheese so we switched out a dessert and just ordered a side of mac and cheese. When we got the the staff was mostly kind the atmosphere wasn't what I expected from a place that sells Mexican food but it was still nice. Our order was not exactly correct but they fixed it so that was fine too. The brisket fries were the best thing we ordered, the fries were a bit soft by the time we stared eating them just two minutes after leaving but that's too be expected with take out but the flavor was honestly delicious. The mac and cheese was honestly the worst it was bland, not cheesy, and was a bit gritty. The churros were nothing special they gave us 2 instead of 3 like the menu said but maybe that is also something that's not right about the menu we saw and the tres leche cake was ok. I'll probably go back to have anything with that brisket and queso though so I'll try again another time but probably skip dessert. Please update your 2 year almost 3 year old online menu please.
Update: went back today to eat at the bar. The food was marginally better but $7 for one taco is crazy. I tried their margarita which I found to be pretty good and I tried Barton Spring Smash which was really good but had too much floating fruit in my drink. I felt like it was more for a drink.
This was my first visit. The place is clean and welcoming. They have really good queso that I recommend getting with the tricolor chips. I ate the brisket quesadilla, it was delicious but a little greasy and the tortillas held up to the extra moisture. Overall it was a pleasant experience and we will go back again.
Have been to Estrella close to a dozen times now. The food is always wonderful and enjoyed, and great leftovers should you have any. Service has been great probably 85% of the time, there was one time we were seated at a high top, the waitress introduced herself and then did not return for over 10 minutes so we just moved ourselves to sit at the bar where the service was great. Love that the breakfast tacos are available all day!
Update: we have been back and the quality seems to be inconsistent....
We had to go to check it out the first night! The atmosphere is really nice in there, but gets very loud. We got Pop's Nachos which were so good and unique! And I am not a steak person at all, but it was so delicious! We also got the grilled corn which was yummy. Also, we had the guacamole, which was good, but $11 for a small amount. We had the brisket sandwich, which was good. The dessert (the fried dough one) was kinda undercooked and bland. Other than that I would def come back!
Always great food! Our server was nice. Beer was cold! Best brisket sandwich I've had outside of Texas!
You only get two churros with the Churros y Chocolate dessert order. Disappointing for the cost, expected to get four. Menu didn't specify quantity.

The Steak and Eggs Tostada was small but delicious. Liked the subtle spiciness that it had.
I give Estrella 3.5 stars. The atmosphere is nice, especially if you’re seated at a table off to the side away from the main benches. The food and drinks are good but a bit overpriced for what you get. Our server was friendly and helpful. The hostess forgot to seat us, but we didn’t mind as it was the first time we had gotten back together and enjoyed the extra time to catch up. We weren’t able to sit outside because of wind, but they have a nice little patio area that would be pretty in the evening.
